SMEG Unwraps Portofino Refrigerator

SMEG Portofino refrigerator

The Italian luxury appliance manufacturer SMEG has brought out its first new refrigerator design since it introduced the Retro Collection in the U.S.: the Portofino freestanding model ($2,999) featuring structured and clean lines and enhanced interior storage. It is a now available in Red, Black, Anthracite, White, and Stainless Steel.

The new line is the brand’s latest innovation within its Portofino Collection of ranges, ventilation hoods, and dishwashers, which the company says was inspired by the “brightness of traditional Mediterranean hues with the raw strength of stainless steel.” The Portofino is fashioned to complement a variety of kitchen aesthetics in addition to those with existing SMEG Portofino appliances.

Inside the 18-cu.-ft., approximately 28-inch-wide EnergyStar-qualified appliance is a well-illuminated cabin that can hold up to 26 bags of groceries. A “No Frost” feature prevents icy buildup that harms food by circulating the cool air evenly across every shelf and drawer. Additionally, the “Life Plus Drawer” keeps meat, fish, and cheese fresher for longer by maintaining a steady temperature. Featuring simplified controls, the spacious interior comes with four flexible glass shelving units to meet all end-user needs.

“Years of honing the design and continuing to integrate technology have gone into the Portofino refrigerator, and we couldn’t be prouder of the final result that’s now available to consumers,” said Paul McCormack, national sales and marketing director for SMEG USA. “We’re excited to bring the Portofino aesthetic to life in the form of a refrigerator for the first time, offering customers a new reason to experience this beautiful collection.”
