Astell&Kern and Campfire Audio are teaming up to produce a limited-edition pair of in-ear monitors (IEMs). The Solaris X will be released under the Astell&Kern brand, and will be sold exclusively by Astell&Kern dealers worldwide.
The SOLARIS X was inspired by the Campfire Solaris 2020 IEM, but features a new custom Balanced Armature (BA) driver for high frequency response that was designed specifically for the AK SOLARIS X. The custom BA driver is smaller in size and produces a more neutral response compared to its predecessor. When paired with Campfire’s patented tuned acoustic expansion chamber (T.A.E.C.) technology, the new driver offers smooth and extended high frequencies.
The Second BA driver produces rich mid-range frequencies while the custom 10mm dynamic driver, optimized for the Polarity Tuned Chamber, reproduces deeper and more refined mid-to-low frequencies. Each earphone integrates a 3D Printed Acoustic Chamber enabling the drivers to deliver the highest audio quality possible for a natural and accurate sound.
Beryllium/copper MMCX connectors on the IEM are more resilient against wear and tear than regular brass connectors.
The AK SOLARIS X comes with a 2.5mm Pure Silver Litz Cable, produced with four 4N (99.99% purity) conductors to offer clearer, extended sounds. The jacket that wraps around each conductor ensures both flexibility and durability, just as the beryllium/copper MMCX connectors on the IEM offer protection from wear and tear. Despite their toughness, SOLARIS X is soft and makes for a solid everyday IEM.
With their SOLARIS X, users will receive an eco-friendly cork case, a selection of ear tips to choose from, protective sleeves, and a cleaning tool.
Limited quantities of the AK SOLARIS X will be available starting this month for $1,499.
