Name: Skyler Meek

Age: 34

Job Title: Director of Marketing

Company: Advanced Manufacturing Solutions

Years in Industry: 6

Where You Grew Up, Live Now: Grew up in Austin, TX and still live here. It’s a beautiful city and a wonderful place to live.

Education: University of Texas in San Antonio

Accomplishments: I was honored to be involved in every aspect of Marketing for Screen Innovations. This included record setting attendance every year at trade show events, optimizing customer conversions with new online tool initiatives, large-scale attention to content efforts of more than 1.5 million views, and social media growth from 13K to over 150K followers on Facebook alone. Additionally, I was also honored to be a part of the Screen Innovations leadership team. Together we developed the strategy, core values, and overall initiatives to meet company goals and objectives.

CE Industry Awards: In 2016, I was a previous recipient of a 40 under 40 award. While at Screen Innovations I was awarded MVP for the company in 2017. The award recognizes those who have put forth hard work and devotion to capitalize on the initiatives and goals of the company.

What I Like Best About My Job: As Director of Marketing, I am blessed with the opportunity to create a strategy that is solely focused on how we can capitalize on the overall company objectives and goals. When the company has an incredible value to offer its customers, it becomes very fulfilling to tell the story in such a way that can directly affect their lives and the lives of their customers in a positive way.

What I like Least About My Job: When considering what I “like least” about my job, there’s not much that comes to mind! I suppose the time it takes to craft the strategy and execute on the strategy. I’m impatient and passionate, so I want to see results quickly.

Pastime/Hobby: I enjoy woodworking; however, I spend most of my time with my wife and kids exploring hiking trails and fishing in local ponds.

Last Book Read: The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team

Favorite Movie: Interstellar

My Hero, and Why: My son Lucas is my hero. He was diagnosed with a type of traumatic brain injury from birth that is typically very debilitating. I am in awe of his joy for life, outgoing personality, and ability to learn how to operate despite this setback.

Favorite CE Product: Screen Innovations’ Janus

Major Industry Problem and How to Fix It: Dealers struggle with a lack of attention. Manufacturers tend to think they understand the issues or problems that dealers face, and that’s not always the case. Product teams, leadership teams, and marketing teams need to create serious initiatives towards creating effective ways of listening to the dealer’s needs, concerns, and pain points.

What Makes You Believe the CE Industry Will Thrive in the Next 5 Years: As more and more companies begin to take innovation and product development seriously, I believe the CE industry will prove itself more and more. The market is widening as more and more people find the need for a well-oiled smart home that interconnects in an efficient way that works specifically for their needs. CE pros will not only prove their worth from that standpoint, but continue to offer the level of expertise for the high-end market that requires this highly attuned experience.
