LG Debuts Latest OLED TVs for 2022

On Monday night, ahead of its official unveiling at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, LG Electronics USA officially announced its newest lineup of OLED TVs for 2022. It represented the latest edition of LG’s OLED offerings, which have been among the most acclaimed in the industry for the last several years.

The flagship model in this year’s lineup is the G2 series model, featuring the OLED “evo” technology that debuted in LG’s 2021 lineup. The series includes the first-ever 97-inch OLED model as well as a new 83-inch model, along with the established 55-, 65- and 77-inch models.

Also part of the lineup is the C2 series, which features six screen sizes, including the first 42-inch OLED TV, along with 48-, 55-, 65-, 77- and 83-inch sizes.

Also featured in the TVs is a new edition of LG’s webOS smart TV interface, which allows users to log on either through their TV or a mobile device. Also featured is the NFC Magic Tap feature, which allows users to mirror a mobile device screen to their TV, similar to Chromecast and AirPlay. Magic Tap also includes the ability to share content among LG TVs, through the Room to Room Share feature.

The new LG TVs have earned multiple certifications, including 100 percent color fidelity from Intertek, as “flicker-free” by TÜV Rheinland and Underwriters Laboratories, and “glare-free” by UL.

And beyond the OLED TVs, LG has introduced a 2022 lineup for its QNED TVs, LCD TVs featuring the Quantum Dot NanoCell technology.

Pricing and availability were not announced for the lineup, which will be unveiled Tuesday morning during CES’s first press day.

Earlier in the week, LG Display, the manufacturer of LG Electronics; panels, had announced OLED.EX, the next generation of OLED technology that is used in this year’s TVs. LG Display had also announced some nontraditional concepts such as the “Media Chair,” which consisted of a recliner surrounded by curved OLED screens.

The website RTINGS.com publishes continuing rankings of its top-rated TVs currently on the market, and the list was dominated for all of 2021 by LG OLED models from 2020 and 2021. The LG G1 from 2021 is currently ranked #1, followed by the LG CX OLED from 2020 and the LG C1 OLED from 2021. All five of the top five ranked TVs are LG OLED TVs, as are seven of the top ten.
