On top of smartphone announcements at its Unpacked event, Samsung revealed the new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro. Both Buds and Watches will be available on August 26, but they’re also available for preorder now. The Buds 2 Pro will go for $229.99, the Galaxy Watch 5 will start at $279.99 and the Watch 5 Pro will start at $449.99.
First, let’s get into the specifics of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Samsung says that the earbuds are smaller — specifically 15 percent smaller — and more comfortable than their predecessor, and they support 24-bit Bluetooth audio playback. Samsung altered the physical specifications of the Buds to allow for added airflow to the airs, which will make for a more comfortable wear than previously. Another selling point of the Buds is on the eco-conscious side of things. Samsung says that more than 90 percent of plastic used in the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is made up of recycled materials.
Next, let’s talk about the new Galaxy Watches. Both the Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are built on Google and Samsung’s Wear OS 3 and feature Exynos W920 processors. Selling points of the watches are their longer battery lives, faster charging and a sapphire crystal display designed to be more resistant to scratches and general wear and tear. On top of those features, the watches come with new body data-collecting capabilities, such as skin temperature measurement. The benefit of getting a Watch 5 Pro over the standard Watch 5 is its larger battery and titanium case, as well as other potential directional features.
