Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) Releases 1.0 Guidelines

Home Connectivity Alliance announced the release of its HCA 1.0 Giidlines for Cloud-to-Cloud interoperability at CES 2023. HCA, committed to home ecosystem operations, displayed its “any app to any device” features and HVAC-related energy solutions.

“This is a monumental achievement for our members to release the HCA 1.0 Guidelines within one year of the organization‘s launch at CES 2022,” said Yoon Ho Choi, Home Connectivity Alliance President. “The availability of these guidelines will enable the large appliance industry to begin development of interoperable and energy-efficient ecosystems between trusted global brands that will provide convenience, help stabilize the electrical grid, and help deliver cost savings for consumers.”

The guidelines ensure that legacy appliances and HVAC systems will continue to operate over time, often regardless of major firmware updates.

With multiple brands of apps gaining the ability to control multiple brands of appliances, the HCA looks to continue adding more accessibility features to smart homes’ connectivity.
