Sigma Updates Fp Cameras with Improved Firmware

The Sigma Fp camera series has two firmware updates: Version 5.0 for the 24-megapixel Sigma Fp, and Version 3.0 for the 61-megapixel Fp L camera.

The firmware updates include the introduction of a “Warm Gold” colour mode, which “creates a mellow atmosphere with subdued tones and warm colours,” as put by Sigma. The colour mode “combines the staging ability to create a story with the versatility to be used in a wide range of scenes.”

After receiving said updates, the Fp series of cameras are apparently the first mirrorless still/cine cameras to use the EL ZONE metering system. The false-color exposure tool was developed by cinematographer Ed Lachman, ASC, and displays standard exposure in grey. With a color-coded format, EL ZONE offers users up to six modes of highlights and shadows, guaranteeing a versatile experience for photographers.

In addition to this, the products have been updated with the Open Gate with Anamorphic Desqueeze feature, which enhances filmmaking settings for the camera series.

The cameras are also able to support 4TB SSDs, as well as Atomos Cloud.

“The introduction of the EL ZONE metering system, along with the full roster of additional features and functions provided in the latest firmware, demonstrates Sigma’s commitment to the Fp camera series.” said Mark Amir-Hamzeh, Sigma America President.

“With each major firmware update, the Fp cameras become ever more important tools catering to the needs of the creative community.”

The firmware updates for both Sigma cameras will be available on the Sigma website on February 8, 2023.
