Anticipation is building for IFA 2023, which is set to be held in Berlin on September 1-5. However, one thing will be new this year; a fully functioning and interactive Sustainability Village.

According to information released by IFA, the Sustainability Village will have its “own onsite ‘mend and repair’ shop tackling e-waste, a comprehensive conference program on sustainability best practices, a dedicated exhibitor area, and networking focused on connecting sustainability leaders with the wider IFA community.”

Sustainability is an essential part of the consumer electronic conversation. According to an article released by IFA, “The global tech industry has come under intense scrutiny for its considerable impact on the planet, accounting for 2-3 percent of the world’s CO2 emissions.” This requires CE manufacturers and retailers to plan growth in their business while protecting the planet. IFA will provide that opportunity to attendees by creating an innovative and educational environment for executives to brainstorm and collaborate.

IFA 2023 will welcome six industry experts to speak at the Sustainability Village. The keynotes will touch on topics ranging from integrating sustainable technology into homes to what is driving sustainable consumer purchasing decisions. Keynote speakers include:

  • Victoria Neuhofer, Entrepreneur, Founder & CEO DAMN Plastic
  • Knut Hechtfischer, Co-founder & CEO decarbon1ze, Co-founder Ubitricity
  • Paolo Falcioni, Director General APPLiA
  • Oliver Hagenbeek, Director Simon-Kucher
  • James Butcher, CEO Supply Pilot
  • Uwe Schulte, Advisor, Ecovadis CEO, Prosolvo GmbH
