TCL has made tablets more fun with the release of the TAB Disney Edition 2 on August 17. The Verizon 4G LTE-connected tablet with Android 13 OS is available exclusively at Verizon in-store and online for $199 MSRP.

The TCL TAB Disney Edition 2 has a vibrant 8-inch 800×1280 HD edge-to-edge display contained in a bumper case featuring a foldout kickstand for easy viewing. It also features nine unique pre-loaded puzzles and games featuring beloved Disney characters that users of all ages can enjoy. Amplified dual speakers create an even more fun and entertaining experience.

A high-resolution screen with enchanting entertainment should not have to mean eye strain, and luckily TCL guarantees viewers’ eye care with its Reading Mode and Eye Comfort Mode. These modes filter out harmful blue light to reduce eye strain and fatigue to keep the entertainment rolling.

The tablet has a high-performing 2.0GHz octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM, as well as ample internal storage of up to 64GB that is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card (sold separately). It has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. The 8MP main camera can snap detailed photos and panoramic landscapes while applying filters in real time. The TAB Disney Edition 2 also has a 5MP front-facing camera that is suited for selfies and video chats.

Whirlpool Corporation announced the first of a three-phase $60+ million plan to redesign research and development facility, St. Joseph Technology Center, a site where decades of appliance innovations took place, in St. Joseph, MI. The project will expand and replace much of the existing facility.

“This $60 million investment by Whirlpool builds on the company’s longstanding commitment to Southwest Michigan,” said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in a press release. “This transformative project will help Whirlpool attract top talent, put more people on paths to good-paying, high-skill jobs, and continue our mission to help anyone ‘make it’ in Michigan.”

The newly expanded St. Joseph’s Technology Center is LEED Silver certified and will focus on designing and testing washers, dryers, dishwashers, and small appliance products to provide consumer solutions with the help of 21 testing labs. The facility will employ more than 500 technicians, engineers, designers, and adjacent roles.

“In 1911, the first electric washing machines were built here in St. Joseph, Michigan, and we continue to grow that legacy with the investment in this new, state-of-the-art technology center,” said Marc Bitzer, Whirlpool chairman and CEO, in a press release. “We are committed to this community, and to improving life at home for families around the world. This new technology hub helps enable both of these promises by creating a new space where future innovation will come to life.”

HeroTech, a startup that specializes in science-fiction gadgets, takes consumers one step closer to becoming superheroes with their all-new thread-shooting watch, the MAGNUS MKII.

“It took quite literally hundreds of prototypes, but in the end it was worth it. Wearing this, using it and just seeing people’s reactions, you really feel like a hero,” said Jacob Uy, Founder of HeroTech in a press release. “This new model builds on everything we learned from the previous version and our experience inventing other gadgets,” he added.

The MAGNUS MKII allows users to fire and retract specialized SpiderWire thread directly from the thread cartridge on the included ballistic nylon strap, but it is compatible with any 18-mm NATO-style watch strap. The watch displays time with a unique pattern of LED bars. All watch components are encased in aircraft-grade aluminum for protection.

The MAGNUS MKII retails at $427.00 and orders are limited to two per customer. Pre-orders ship in mid-October 2023.
