Panasonic Collaborates with EV Company Fisker on Pulse Premium Audio System for Ocean SUVs

Tier-one automotive supplier Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America, a division of Pansonic Corporation of North America, announced the launch of the Fisker Pulse audio system crafted exclusively for the all-electric Fisker Ocean Extreme and the Fisker Ocean One SUVs. The audio system, powered by the ELS Studio 3D, is the product of 20 years of collaboration between Panasonic and eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer, Elliott Scheiner.

“Fisker is pushing the industry forward with a vision focused on sustainability, and Panasonic Automotive is honored to join in building the future of Fisker electric vehicles,” said in a press release by Andrew Poliak, Chief Technology Officer, Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America. “With decades of experience, our audio design team worked closely with Fisker to bring a new approach to speaker placement, creating an emotional audio experience for EVs, focused on efficiency and sustainability without sacrificing the authentic studio quality sound and emotional impact that are the foundations of all ELS STUDIO 3D systems.”

The latest version of the technology in the Fisker Ocean SUV, ELS STUDIO 3D PREMIUM AUDIO, consists of neodymium magnet circuit designs used to reduce the overall weight of each speaker by 30 to 60 percent. It is estimated that this system draws 60 percent less energy than a typical audio system with similar output, making it more eco-friendly.

The audio system is installed along the instrument panel and consists of three 9cm PrecisionDrive Carbon Fiber Coaxial speakers hidden beneath Fisker’s sustainable interior materials. It also features four ultra-slim, lightweight, full-range Highline speakers mounted in the headliner that work with Panasonic Automotive’s proprietary DJX 3D Surround algorithm to create an immersive sound experience throughout the cabin. The system is complete with four 17cm PrecisionDrive Carbon Fiber woofers that provide low distortion bass and a 20cm SLDD subwoofer that creates a deep bass response.
