Refract, the maker of AXIS full-body tracking (FBT) system, has announced that the studio-grade system is now available for commercial sale. Using patent-pending inside-out positional tracking, AXIS makes motion-tracking accessible for users, whether they be gamers, developers or content creators. The system can be used in three different configurations— Standard, VR and Creator, allowing users to make the content they want where they want.

AXIS features a simple setup with fully detachable nodes that achieve less than 15 milliseconds of latency for real-time tracking. The nodes are interchangeable and configurable for any setup. Plus, with the new Milestone Update, users can wear as little as four and up to 17 for whatever FBT experience they desire. No external cameras or base stations are required with AXIS, which is wireless and has untethered nodes with 150-foot indoor range and a 500-foot outdoor range for optimum convenience.

The plug-and-play system seamlessly integrates with SteamVR, OpenVR, OpenXR, Unity and Unreal Engine. With the Maximum Update, AXIS is also compatible with Linux, with more operating systems to follow.

AXIS is available in Standard and Pro versions. The Standard version is $749 and the Pro version is $1299.

Pimax Crystal, the only VR headset honored in the XR Technologies & Accessories category at the CES 2024 Innovation Awards, is available now. The VR headset offers exceptional clarity with ultra-high fidelity QLED panels, which boast a native resolution of 2880×2880 pixels per eye (not upscaled even at 120Hz).

Pimax Crystal is also the first and sole VR headset equipped with glass aspheric lenses, giving the product its name. It integrates multi-parametric optimization with the unique characteristics of the QLED+miniLED display screen. The system is enhanced further by specialized optical techniques designed to suppress stray light and correct distortion. These design elements work together to maximize the intrinsic resolution power of the aspheric lens and fully leverage the ultra-high light transmittance of the optical-grade glass material to ensure that the final visual output delivers an exceptional viewing experience with edge-to-edge crystal-like clarity, vivid contrasts, and high brightness.

The Pimax Crystal is available now from $1439 with a Black Friday discount of $160. It will also be on display and available to demo at CES 2024 at Booth #15454 and at the official Innovation Awards Showcase at the Venetian Expo, Halls D, Booth #56332.
