Happy Earth Day! The weekend is almost here and in honor of today’s celebrations, we figured we would kick off the newsletter with one of our favorite nature-related proverbs focusing on our generational need to take care of the planet: “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
Yesterday, LG announced that 43 of its refrigerator-freezer models have been awarded the ENERGY STAR Emerging Technology Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These LG refrigerator-freezer models feature adaptive compressors and use R-600a, which is a refrigerant with a low global-warming potential (GWP). The ENERGY STAR Emerging Technology Award is only handed out to products that outperform the federal minimum standard by at least 25 percent and include refrigerant and foam with a GWP below 15.
In other Earth Day news, Roborock, a manufacturer of smart home robotics equipment, has released an update to its S7 MaxV robot vacuums titled “Off-Peak Charging.” This new update enables the robotic vacuums to reach a max charge of 30 percent during peak energy hours while waiting until off-peak hours to obtain a full charge. Users can enable the new charging function under Device Setting in the Roborock app. Manually implementing this feature allows users to select the local off-peak hours.
Lastly, Solo Stove, manufacturer of the iconic smoke-less firepit, has just launched its new Pi pizza oven, which has the ability to cook pizzas in just 90 seconds. The Pi pizza oven has Dual Fuel capability meaning it can handle wood or gas as primary fuel sources. The oven also features Solo Stove’s Signature Airflow, which creates an advanced convection system. Currently available for pre-order, the Pi pizza oven will begin shipping in late June.
