Today, LG Electronics (LG) presented its newest energy-efficient technologies at Europe’s largest consumer electronics and appliances trade show, IFA Berlin. Presented at LG’s tech briefing session, titled, ‘How to Respond to Climate Change – LG Core-Techs for Sustainability,’ the technologies are intended to accomplish the company’s commitment to realizing a sustainable future.

The highlight of the briefing was the company’s electrification strategy in the form of advanced heat pump technology. To exemplify this strategy, LG presented the LG Therma V R290 Monobloc Air-to-Water Heat Pump (AWHP). This heat pump employs the energy-efficient and significantly more eco- and climate-friendly R290 refrigerant, which notably has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of three.

This is not the first instance in which LG has incorporated energy-efficient technology into their products, however. heat pump technology in the Therma V R290 is spread throughout LG’s efficient home appliance portfolio. The LG DUAL Inverter Heat Pump dryer utilizes two cylinders simultaneously to compress the refrigerant, achieving faster drying times than standard models. Additionally, the LG SIGNATURE second-generation washer-dryer features LG’s energy-efficient inverter heat pump drying module, similarly ameliorating drying results while maintaining fabric integrity.

“The advanced technologies and sustainable solutions introduced during today’s briefing at IFA 2023 are designed to help consumers live better, both now and in the future,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, in a press release. “Through its environmentally-conscious home appliances and business strategy, LG will continue to make a positive difference for people and the planet.”
