GoPro Announces New HERO12 Black Action Camera

Camera brand GoPro has just announced the release of its newest action camera, the HERO12 Black, to capture every adventure-filled moment in HDR video. It is available for preorder on GoPro’s website and is priced at $399.99, with shipments expected to go out on or before September 13. 

The HERO12 Black action camera possesses 5.3K60, 4K120, and 2.7K240 video resolutions in an expansive 177-degree field of view, the widest view available from GoPro. In addition to 5.3K60, you can also select up to 8x slow-motion video. With HyperSmooth 6.0 Image Stabilization, the new action camera from GoPro ensures smooth video playback when operating over rough terrain. Horizon Lock is a feature built-in to HyperSmooth 6.0 that allows users to keep their footage level no matter how much movement or rotation. It also offers up to 27MP still photo capture and a variety of time-lapse effects. With over 2.5 hours of continuous recording at 1080p30, users can be sure they can capture their perfect shot.

To ensure the user captures their ideal scene, the HERO12 Black is equipped with a 2.27″ LCD rear screen to view the frame and access controls via touch, as well as a 1.4″ LCD front screen to check the camera status and preview. The HERO12 Black has an 8:7 aspect ratio which can be enhanced with HyperView to produce a wide-angle 16:9 shot. Bluetooth connectivity allows users to connect a wireless mic or link to wireless earbuds for crisp audio-enabled voice commands and immersive narration. When finished shooting, users can plug in the camera and transfer captured content wirelessly to the Quik app where a ready-to-share highlight is generated, uploaded to the cloud, and sent straight to your phone.

Magewell Launches the Director Mini, Its First Self-Contained Production Solution

Magewell, a developer of video I/O and IP workflow products, announced today the launch of its first all-in-one production solution, the Director Mini. With the Director Mini, the production process is encased in a compact, portable device. Users can switch between multiple outputs, construct graphics, stream, record, and monitor all from the Director Mini. It will make its global exhibition debut at the Magewell stand (7.A44) at IBC 2023 in Amsterdam from September 15-18. The Director Mini will begin shipping later this month. 

Multi-input switching is easy with Magewell’s Director Mini. User can alternate between two HDMI inputs and two USB AV inputs as well as three simultaneous live IP sources, including SRT streams, RTMP streams, or up to two NDI HX sources. The device also lets users combine file-based media assets like audio, video, and images, with live sources. The user interface can be accessed via a 5.44″ AMOLED touchscreen, where users can define, switch, and transition between multiple scenes with various input combinations as well as network streams, media sources, and graphics.

The Director Mini can encode video up to 1080p at 60 frames-per-second and bitrates up to 30Mbps. Productions can be streamed using the RTMP protocol to popular platforms such as YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and Instagram Live, as well as custom destinations. Content can also be recorded to an SD card, USB flash drive, or a device’s internal storage for ease of access. The hardware can be paired with standard camera-mounting accessories and operated in a horizontal or vertical orientation for optimal content production and distribution.  

3DMakerpro Presents the Seal Series 3D Scanner

At the IFA Next exhibition in Berlin, Germany, 3DMakerpro, a brand committed to producing user-friendly and cost-effective 3D scanners, presented the prototype for the Seal Series 3D Scanner. As the world’s first portable, high-precision, consumer-grade handheld 3D scanner, the Seal Series 3D Scanner attempts to bridge the gap in accessibility to high-quality 3D scanners by making them available to consumers at a reasonable price. 

The Seal Series 3D Scanner has a precision of 0.01mm and a resolution of 0.05mm. This precision and resolution is achieved through innovative Blue Light Encoded Structured Light, which utilizes shorter wavelengths to project refined structured light for accuracy detailed capturing to produce 3D models. It also offers 24-bit color capture, free built-in software with lifelong OTA updates compatibility, versatile scenarios, and AI-powered smart accessories.  

The funding campaign for the Seal Series 3D Scanner was launched on Indiegogo on August 29. It reached its funding goal within 50 seconds and garnered thousands of backers in a couple of hours. The early bird special for the Seal Lite 3D Scanner is $239, down from $359 retail, and the early bird special for the Seal 3D Scanner is priced at $449, down from $699 retail.
