Sony Electronics Unveils World’s Lightest 300mm F2.8 G Master Telephoto Lens
Sony Electronics has introduced the world’s lightest 300mm telephoto prime lens, the FE 300mm F2.8 G Master OSS, designed for full-frame α (Alpha) E-mount cameras. This lens offers exceptional high-resolution image quality with beautiful bokeh, making it ideal for capturing decisive moments in sports, news, events, and wildlife photography. Its lightweight design, weighing approximately 1470g (excluding tripod mount), and balanced weight distribution enable handheld shooting of fast-moving subjects.
When used with the Alpha 9 III camera, it provides high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking up to 120 frames per second, even for subjects with complex movements. The lens also supports the use of a teleconverter for shooting in the telephoto range of up to 600mm. Additionally, it features exceptional mobility, comfortable operability, dust and moisture resistance, and will be available for pre-order in November 2023 with a suggested retail price of $5999.99 USD.
