With the current state of the economy, scouring the news every day has become somewhat of a depressing affair. In the past few weeks, inflation has hit a 40-year high of 8.6 percent and gas prices have neared an average of $5 per gallon. Moreover, the exacerbating macroeconomic factors such as the war in Ukraine and a battered supply chain aren’t set to abate any time soon. As a result, today’s newsletter will give a much-needed break from this nasty economic climate and instead focus on some lighter content from the world of e-mobility and audio.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip will be available for pre-order starting June, 17. This is the first Apple computer to hit the market with the M2 chip, which according to the company has an 18 percent faster CPU, a 35 percent faster GPU, and a 40 percent faster Neural Engine compared to the M1 chip. The 13-inch MacBook Pro M2 will retail for $1,299 with the first computers expected to arrive to customers by June, 24.

In other news, At the AutoTech trade show in Detroit, Tunein, a platform that aggregates thousands of ad-free stations and services, announced a new agreement with Rivian to feature its product in the company’s line of EVs. Customers from Rivian will also receive exclusive benefits to more stations from Tunein’s offering that includes over 100,000 stations from 200 different countries. In regards to the partnership, Tunein CEO Richard Stern said to the press: “We power it. They’re using our APIs and our technology and access to our catalog but inside the cabin the user experience they built is probably one of the most beautiful radio experiences I’ve ever seen.”
